Expedition to Mae Hong Son for Border Town Planning
A group of city planners , engineers, and geographers went to 3 small villages bordering with Myanmar to study the settlements, environments, and cross-border activities to help us initiate the border town planning process.
The target areas for this planning process are Ban Nam Phiang Din, Ban Huay Phueng, and Ban Sao Hin. In the area surrounding the crossing points there are more small agricultural villages with mixed ethnic groups settled along the rough mountainous roads to the crossings. This is what makes the planning for these villages interesting and special.
Althogh, the villages are very small and highly rural, they show strong ethnic cultural authenticity – organic dynamic picturesque entities among the valleys and mountains. Much more to explore and learn from.
