Border Town Planning

Sao Hin Crossing

This border crossing, at the red pin in the picture, is now only a control point with nearly no settlement, only a small army camp at the border. The nearest village is about 3 km. further south. The road to this point is mainly dirt road, with certain parts being shallow streams.  Thus, the best vehicle to take you there is a 4-wheeler only.  Along the 40-km. dirt/stream roadway, there are other farmimg villages occupying lands at the valleys where the main stream is running – you can see the light patches running down in the photo.

Here are a few of the villages’ agricultural settlement along the road and the stream to the crossing point.
